A community-driven music festival hosted by various small music venues across Melbourne, aimed to bring revenue back into these venues and revive the dwindling live music scene in the city.

The Design Problem

Melbourne was once hailed as the heartbeat of Australia’s live music scene, however in recent years many iconic venues have been at risk or have shut their doors due revenue not meeting high costs of rent and overheads.

Additionally, consumer habits have changed since the pandemic with show attendees not willing to spend as much on entry or tickets, as well as drinks or food available at the venue.

As a result of this, more venues are at risk of closure and therefore jeopardising the future of Melbourne’s live music scene.

The Design solution

To create a free-entry, community and local government backed music festival that is hosted by a selection of music venues which are at risk of closure in order to bring attention back to live music in Melbourne and keep the venues open.
